FTCE Florida School Psychologist PK-12 Examination Information

Professional certifications are valid for five academic years and are renewable while temporary certifications are valid for only three academic tears and are non-renewable. After temporary certifications expire, educators must then apply for a professional certification to continue teaching.

Eligibility Requirements for School Psychologist PK-12 Exam

The Florida Department of Education requires applicants to first comply with certain eligibility requirements in order to be qualified to take the exam.

Both certifications require applicants to hold a bachelor’s degree. For professional certifications, applicants are required to have a School Psychologist specialist degree. For temporary certification, applicants minimally are required to have a 2.5 GPA in the subject.

A fingerprint report is also needed for both certifications and only after duly processing these files will the board grant the certification to the educator.

Examination Format of FTCE School Psychologist PK-12 Test

The FTCE School Psychologist PK-12 Exam requires decision-making skills and basic knowledge in statistics. The test is designed to evaluate educators’ ability to determine mentally troubled students and help them recover from exhaustion. • Laws, rules, regulations, and court decisions -5%

• Evidence-based interventions -15%

• Consultation, collaboration, and problem solving -10%

• Professional school psychology and ethical decision making -8%

The test is composed of 120 multiple choice questions and examinees are given 150 minutes to attempt the exam. The questions are of different formats such as:

• Direct Question

• Scenario

• Sentence Completion
