FTCE Florida Technology Education 6-12 Examination Information

Passers are granted certifications that enable educators to legally teach Technology Education in the state.

There are two certifications available, professional and temporary. Professional certifications are valid for five academic years and are renewable while temporary certifications are valid for only three academic tears and are non-renewable. After temporary certifications expire, educators must then apply for a professional certification to continue teaching.

Eligibility Requirements for Technology Education 6-12 Exam

The Florida Department of Education requires applicants to first comply with certain eligibility requirements in order to be qualified to take the exam.

Both certifications require applicants to hold a bachelor’s degree in Technology Education. For professional certifications, applicants are required to have a specialization in the subject. For temporary certification, applicants minimally are required to have a 2.5 GPA in the subject.

A fingerprint report is also needed for both certifications and only after duly processing these files will the board grant the certification to the educator.

Examination Format of FTCE Technology Education 6-12 Test

The FTCE Technology Education exam covers all kinds of technologies such as medical, communication, power, and transportation technology. Listed below are 14 topics that are to appear in exam with their corresponding percentage values that represents how much of the topic will appear in the exam.

• Principles of drafting and design -10%

• Principles of engineering design -9%

• Medical technologies -2%

• Agricultural and related biotechnologies -2%

• Energy and power technologies -8%

• Information and communication technologies -12%

• Transportation technologies -5%

• Manufacturing technologies -10%

• Constructing technologies -8%

• Safety and laboratory management -9%

• Technology education and professional development -9%

• Standards-based instruction -4%

• Standards-based assessment -4%

The exam is composed of 120 multiple-choice questions and examinees are given 150 to complete the test. The questions are of different formats such as:

• Direct Question

• Sentence Completion

• Graphics

• Scenario

• Command
