Praxis II Marketing Education (5561) Examination General Information


The Educational Testing Service conducts the Praxis II Marketing Education Exam in order to evaluate educators’ skills and capabilities needed in the subject matter. Passing the Praxis II Marketing Education Exam grants educators certifications that are needed to teach in any state in the USA. Each state has a different score requirement to pass hence applicants should consider which sections he/she should put more focus on so as to easily obtain a certification. The Praxis II Marketing Education Exam challenges both the educator’s practical and theoretical knowledge on the subject area in seven different sections.

Eligibility for Praxis II Marketing Education (5561) Exam


To be eligible to appear for the Praxis II Marketing Education exam, applicants are required to comply with certain eligibility conditions required by the ETS board. Applicants should have a bachelor degree from any state of national university. Applicants should also complete the appropriate coursework in the education. If the applicant should fail in the exam, he/she is given a chance to retake it but only after a period of 30 days.

Format of Praxis II Marketing Education (5561) Exam


The Praxis II Marketing Education Exam is composed of 120 multiple-choice questions and examinees are given 2 hours to attempt the exam. These questions are grouped into seven different categories that correspond to a specific subject area on marketing. These categories are: Marketing Education Programs; General Business Principles; Marketing –Information Management and Planning; Channel Management; Pricing; Product/Service Management; Promotion; and Personal Selling.

The Marketing Education Programs category of the exam covers: Program perspectives; Cooperative Education Programs; and Professional development. There are approximately 17 questions on this category which amounts to 14% of the total score.

•  The General Business Principles category of the exam covers: Economics and Finance; Business law; and Management and communication. There are approximately 17 questions on this category which amounts to 14% of the total score.

•  The Marketing-Information Management and Planning category of the exam covers: Market research; Segmentation; and Strategic Planning. There are approximately 17 questions on this category which amounts to 14% of the total score.

•  The Channel Management category of the exam covers: Channel structure/relationship; Physical distribution strategies; and Logistics. There are approximately 12 questions on this category which amounts to 10% of the total score.

•  The Pricing category of the exam covers: Role of pricing; Pricing Strategies; and Pricing Mathematics. There are approximately 14 questions on this category which amounts to 12% of the total score.

•  The Product/Service Management category of the exam covers: Product Life Cycle; Product development; Product-mix strategies; Product positioning; and Branding. There are approximately 14 questions on this category which amounts to 12% of the total score.

•  The Promotion category of the exam covers: Role of promotion; Advertising; Public relations and publicity; Sales promotion; and Current trends in promotion. There are approximately 17 questions on this category which amounts to 14% of the total score.

•  The Personal Selling category of the exam covers: Role of selling; Selling Process; Sales force management; and Current trends in personal selling. There are approximately 12 questions on this category which amounts to 10% of the total score.
