FTCE Florida Health K-12 Examination Guide for Test Takers

Health is a very crucial and important subject in the K-12 curriculum. Not only does it require practical knowledge, it also requires basic ideas about biology, relating to human health. Educators aiming to teach this subject must be able to make their students realize the importance of hygiene and health at every stage. The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) allows educators to take the FTCE Health Exam in order to test their capabilities for teaching the particular subject. Candidates can choose to apply for either a professional or temporary certification. Professional certification lasts for five academic years and is renewable while temporary certifications last for three academic years but is non-renewable. Candidates must first meet certain eligibility conditions before applying for a certificate.

Requirements Needed to Qualify for FTCE Florida Health Exam

For both certifications, candidates must hold a bachelor degree. For professional certifications, candidates also need to have a master degree in the subject. For temporary certifications, however, candidates only need to have a 2.5 GPA in the subject. Fingerprint reports are also required; without these, candidates are not liable to obtain the certification.

Examination Format of FTCE Florida Health Test

FTCE Health Exam covers topics mostly from health science and personal hygiene. Syllabus of FTCE Health Exam is:

• Health education
• Promoting health literacy
• Health behaviors
• Human biology
• Cure and prevention from pathogens attacking humans
• Maintaining personal health
• Maintaining sexual health
• Nutritional intake and balanced diet
• Emotional and mental health
• Community and environmental health

FTCE Health Exam includes 120 multiple choice questions. Candidate gets two and a half hours to complete the exam. Different formats of questions included in FTCE Health Exam are:

• Direct query
• Completing the sentence
• Commanding query
• Situation analysis
