FTCE Florida Agriculture 6-12 Exam Study Guide

Agricultural science is a broad field in which an educator needs to exert a great deal of effort to be able to teach his/her students. The subject tackles soil science, food science, seeds, and many other biological sciences related to agriculture. To be able to determine worthy candidates, the Florida Department of education conducts the FTCE Agriculture Exam for Florida State. Two types of certification are available: professional and temporary. Professional certification is valid for five years while the temporary certification is valid only for three years.

Eligibility for FTCE Agriculture 6-12 Exam in Florida

Since FLDOE provides certification in both ways, both certifications have different eligibility requirements that should be fulfilled by the candidate. Both certifications require a bachelor degree in the respective subject and submit a fingerprint report to the board to identify if the candidate has any criminal record.

For professional certification, candidates need to demonstrate the efficiency of his/her subject knowledge. 

For temporary certifications, the candidate should have at least a 2.5 GPA in the subject field. 

The candidate should keep in mind that he is liable to hold the professional certification for the period of five years only. After this period, the candidate has to reapply to upgrade the certification.

Format of FTCE Agriculture 6-12 Exam

The FTCE Agriculture Exam is a vital test of the candidate’s knowledge and competency. Topics included in exam are:

•  Animal sciences

•  Economics, management and marketing in agriculture business

•  Environmental and natural sciences

•  Food physiology and system

•  Knowledge and information of career opportunities

•  Plant physiology

•  Soil physiology

•  Technology in agriculture sciences

•  Use of biotechnology in agriculture

The exam is composed of 120 multiple choice questions. The candidate will be given 150 minutes to complete the test. The exam have will have the following sections:

•  Complete the sentence- candidate has to complete the sentence by filling in the proper phrase.

•  Direct query- candidate has to give the exact answer of the query.

•  Situation analysis- candidate will be given a situation to provide the solution for it.

•  Visual Query- candidate has to investigate and analyse the given diagram and answer the question accordingly.

The candidate should prepare well for objective assessment as this requires lot of mental strength and viability on applicant’s part. Once the candidate clears the FTCE, he will be given the permission to practice in the state as an educator.
