FTCE Florida Guidance and Counseling PK-12 Examination Guide
As they say, teachers are our second parents. In school, educators are given the responsibility of guiding their students and teaching them what is right and what is wrong. Educators who are particularly concerned about the well-being of students are suitable to become guidance counselors, who are ready to help anytime. The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) conducts the FTCE Guidance and Counseling Exam in order to test such educators and confirm if their capabilities can be up for the teaching position. Educators who pass this exam can obtain certifications which allow them to teach legally in the state.
There are two types of certification available, professional and temporary. Professional certifications are valid for five academic years and are renewable while temporary certifications are valid for only three academic tears and are non-renewable. After temporary certifications expire, educators must then apply for a professional certification to continue teaching.
